Mauro Hilário was born in Macau in 1989, moving to Portugal when he was 5 years old. He completed the12º school year in Seixal County and graduated from a bachelor in Biology in 2011 throught the University of Algarve, and right after carried out
a 6 month internship at a Wild Life Recovery Center (RIAS) in olhão. In 2013 he finished a master’s degree in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation, studying at the Algarve and Klaipèda Universities, concluding his thesis in fisheries at Samos Island (Greece) with the Archipelagos Institute. He currently works as a biologist and birdwatcher and is part of a small NGO called Grupo Flamingo. He has writing and photography as main hobbies. But at the end of the day, he just wants to save Planet Earth.
